Lifeline Community Care Queensland is a leading provider of community services in Queensland and we pride ourselves on client-focused care. As we’re part of the UnitingCare Queensland group of community service organisations, we have a strong values base namely: compassion, justice, respect, working together and leading through learning.
The Lifeline Community Directory began as a list of Queensland community services that Lifeline’s telephone counsellors could use as a referral database. As demand grew, Lifeline started providing this valuable information to the community and public sector on CD, web and published as a quality print resource that began to be referred to by customers as the ‘Big Blue Book’.
The first directory was printed over 15 years ago. Once provided publically, the need for such a directory became clear – it was huge and it was growing.
In 2010, through a partnership with My Community Directory, the Lifeline Community Directory is now freely available to the public in an easy-to-use online format. The Big Blue Book (www.bigbluebook.com.au) will continue to be printed and will be available for purchase through My Community Directory.
Organisations can now manage their listing information independently online and members can access up-to-date information about what services are available in the community sector.
Lifeline Community Care is incredibly grateful to My Community Directory for providing the resources, expertise and technology needed to continue this vital community resource. Without their support, the Directory would have ceased production in 2009.
