Our Counsellors

Each counsellor has a tertiary qualification in the social sciences field with practical experience in family and relationship counselling. Our counsellors will refer clients to other appropriate services for issues that are outside their field of expertise or where the issue does not fit within the guidelines of this program. Our counselling is confidential (see below) and aims to assist people to develop self-understanding, to explore and resolve their issues and to make changes in their lives.

Services for Carers

Family Relationship Services for Carers provides counselling and services to families caring for a person with a disability. Centacare recognises that taking care of a family member can be challenging. Sometimes carers feel isolated and worry about how they are going to manage it all, now and in the future. Taking care of carers is important.

This program is a free service funded by Department of Social Services. Families are assisted to:

  • manage challenges and conflicts that may arise within the family
  • discuss their concerns and issues around family relationships and the care of a family member with a disability
  • make decisions about future care arrangements.

Families caring for a family member with a disability across Queensland can access up to six sessions free of charge.
