In operation for 40 years, Caxton Legal Centre offers free legal advice and social work services, publishes self-help kits and handbooks, and undertakes community legal education and law reform activities.

The Centre also offers specialist programs in a range of areas including family law, a seniors’ legal service and consumer law.

Individual appointments are available in relation to ;

• Family Law 
• Criminal Law
• Civil Law
• Consumer or Debt issues
• Seniors Legal & Support Service
• Social Work support is available for clients receiving legal assistance

Evening Advice Sessions are by appointment only and take place on Monday , Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5.30pm- 8pm

Appointments are brief - usually around 20 minutes -in order to assist as many people as possible.

At your appointment, a qualified lawyer will give general advice, assist you to understand your options and provide a written copy of the advice. Our Social Work Service and an interpreter service are available. Final-year law students will also assist.

What to bring to your appointment: 

• any paperwork you have related to your legal matter 
• a list of questions which you would like the lawyer to answer 
• the full name of the person who is on the other side of your legal matter. We cannot give you legal advice without it. This is in order for us to check for a potential conflict of interest. If your dispute is with a company or institution we need that name and the name of an individual if you have been dealing with a specific person over an extended period of time.
