Wesley Mission Brisbane is committed to the area of aged care and community services. Emergency relief is available for families and singles experiencing financial distress. Aid includes food vouchers and parcels ,voucher for pharmacy scripts for urgent medication, limited assistance with back-to-school expenses and, if funds allow, help with rent and important bills such as utilities in extreme emergencies.
Advocacy & negotiation with creditors, information about other welfare services and referrals when appropriate are also provided.
Appointments required for assistance with bills or food vouchers. food parcels and prescription vouchers are available without appointments. Assistance with food vouchers or bills is only provided twice per year. All assistance provided is based on individual situations meeting the eligibility guidelines and some forms of assistance are provided once only. Food parcels are limited to three per year.
Cash, petrol vouchers or Brisbane City bus tickets are not available, nor is payment of debts, fines or non-Telstra phone bills, except when required for medical reasons. Clients must resent current identification, preferably a Health Care Card, Pension Card or driver's licence.
