University of the Third Age - Bribie Island

U3A is a self help education movement which caters for persons in the 'third age' and for those who have retired, promoting the concept of studying simply for the joy of learning. It is not a formal University, and does not offer formal qualifications nor set academic qualifications as a prerequisite for entry. Classes are held in many areas and also in private homes. The service plays a vital role in improving the quality of life of retired persons. The courses are run by volunteer tutors and include; Folk Art and Painting, Italian, Indonesian, Family History, Guitar for Beginners, History of British Kings and Queens, Creative Writing, French, General Knowledge, Computing for Beginners, Christian Theology, Birds on Bribie, Progressive Writing, Keyboard and Piano, German, Book Club and Discussion, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, Cloning, DNA and Genetic Modification, Sewing, Movie Group, Drawing and Clay Modelling for Sculpture, Astrology and You and Playreading
