SHINE for Kids

We support children and young people affected by the criminal justice system at the AMC in Canberra.

We offer toys and games to children and young people in the reception and visiting area of the Alexander Maconochie Centre.

Host child and parent days during the school holidays, enabling children and young people to spend an extended time period with their parent in custody, sharing a meal and engaging in fun activities in a relaxed environment.

Offers a Supported Children's Transport Service to enable children to visit their incarcerated parent with a trained and supportive worker or volunteer.

Also offers a Story Time program for eligible families, allowing detainees access to recordable storybooks for their children to take home.
