Alexander Maconochie Centre

Provides secure and safe care of detainees in custody or transit. Offers support and programs for detainees and promotes rehabilitation.

Accommodation includes cell-blocks, domestic style cottages, a medical centre and crisis support unit, a 14 bed management unit and a transitional release centre.

Male, female, remand and sentenced prisoners from low to high security classifications can be accommodated.

Booking visits

Family members and friends visiting a detainee at the AMC must book a visit at least 24 hours in advance by telephone on 02 6205 8589.
