Wellways Helpline (Mental Health)

Phone: 1300 111 500

Monday to Friday 9am - 9pm.

The Helpline is not a crisis line. In a crisis, people should call the Crisis Assessment and Treatment Team (CATT) on 1800 629 354.

Helpline is an information, support and referral service that provides information to people experiencing mental health issues, as well as their family, friends and carers.

It is a volunteer phone service staffed by people who have been there. This may be someone with their own personal experience, or someone who cares for a family member or friend with mental health issues.

Helpline provides information about mental health and the mental health system, links with clinical and community services and weekly outgoing phone calls (when referred from a mental health worker or case manager).

Helpline 1300 111 500 is a national service, operating Monday to Friday, 9am to 9pm (EST, excluding public holidays).

If you are experiencing mental health issues, we can support you to:

  • feel less distressed
  • cope better
  • feel less lonely or isolated
  • find information about community supports

If you are a friend, family member or carer, we can support you to:

  • reduce feelings of frustration or being ‘stuck’
  • decrease anxiety
  • develop coping skills
  • regain hope

We also have fact sheets on a range of mental health issues.
