General Support Services & Counselling
About Us
The Support Group Program is for women and children recovering from domestic violence. The aim of the program is to provide opportunities for women and children to re-establish a sense of self and social skills, while developing strategies for rebuilding and creating safe family after domestic violence. The program is funded by the ACT Office for Women.
We offer three very different eight session groups providing support opportunities to people with diverse situations and goals. The groups are led by facilitators with extensive experience in domestic violence and group facilitation. All groups are free of charge. The groups offered are:
Stepping Forward, suitable for women wanting to reconnect socially after domestic violence. The group gets together each week to go for a relaxed 20-30 minute walk and catch-up at a local cafe.
Growing Strong, suitable for women and their primary-age children as they grow a safe family after domestic violence. Participants share and develop personal resources and skills that can help create and support safe family dynamics.
Domestic Violence Crisis Service ACT has elected to withhold the display of their location on a map
