Felting is an ancient craft which is just as useful and relevant today as it was 3000 years ago. Wherever there are sheep and wool, societies have made felt. The art of felting is an inexpensive yet versatile and exceptionally creative activity. The Canberra Region Feltmakers (CRF) was formed in 1994 by 14 keen felt makers. From those early beginnings, helped along by a cold climate that is good for wearing felt and a region producing fine merino, CRF has developed into an active group with over 100 members from Canberra and the surrounding area. The group meets each month, runs a busy workshop program and demonstrates felt making at public events. Our annual exhibition and fashion parade showcases our members' work and provides an opportunity for the public to buy.
