About Us

Formed in 1996, the CSDC has grown amazingly over the past few years. Our local membership is constantly on the increase and we have interstate members also. We are the largest and most active sled dog club in Australia.

Recreational mushing has been popular in the United States and Canada for decades. Here in Australia it is growing very fast in popularity amongst dog owners. It doesn't matter what sort of dog you have as long as it is strong enough to pull you along on a scooter.

If a leisurely run with your dog through some of the prettiest forest trails in the ACT sounds like fun, come and see what the Canberra Sled Dog Club has to offer. We hold regular training/social gatherings every Saturday and Sunday from mid March to October (that's when the weather gets cold enough to run the dogs - we don't run once the mercury hits 15 degrees C).

CSDC Charter

To encourage and promote the sport and enjoyment of sled dog racing.

To improve the training of sled dogs and drivers.

To conduct regular sled dog club events.

To encourage participation and good sportsmanship.

International Recognition

In 1998, the CSDC was given special recognition by the international governing body, the International Federation of Sleddog Sports and the annual Canberra Sled Dog Classic has been accredited as a special IFSS World Cup event.
