About Us

Belconnen Model Aero Club (BMAC) is located in the heart of the northern suburbs of Canberra, between the major town centres of North Canberra, Belconnen and Gungahlin. This unique location makes our model airfield readily accessible to all members of the Canberra community seeking a safe, friendly and appropriate location to enjoy the sport of aero modelling.

As a Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) approved model airfield, the facilities have been designed with safety in mind supported by a comprehensive Model Aeronautical Association of Australia (MAAA) flight training program.

Our club members participate in most forms of aero-modelling including radio control model sport, scale, pattern (aerobatics), gliders, control line, old-timer and helicopters. (Note - gas turbine jets, rockets and free flight models are not permitted at our field for safety reasons)

Club membership is open to those who share an interest in the sport of aero-modelling and are approved by the club committee. Visitors from MAAA affiliated clubs may be permitted to fly at BMAC up to four times per membership year. MAAA visitors must present a current MAAA membership card, have the appropriate MAAA Wings accreditation and sign the visitors book at each visit.

If you are interested in aero-modelling you are welcome to visit our field.
