Barnardos Australia

Children's charity providing services to help prevent and reverse the effects of abuse, neglect and homelessness on children and young people. Provides a range of services including Temporary Family Care, Child and Youth Mentoring, Find-a-Family, Transition Program, Parenting Outreach Program, Tutoring program and intensive intervention.

Temporary Family Care Program

Emergency care and regular weekend respite care for children aged up to 16yrs whose families are in crisis.

Referral: Parent, Community or Government Organisation, ACT Mental Health or Office of Children, Youth and Family Support.

Eligibility: Family Assessment undertaken by Barnardos Case Workers

Barnardos Child, Youth and Family Support Program

Outreach family support. Aims to improve the wellbeing of all family members, but with a specific focus on children. Issues of concern may include: housing; looking after the children; difficulties managing the home; money; relationship troubles and family breakdown; drug and alcohol issues; health. Assists with accessing services to facilitate and sustain independent living. Provides regular support with a cyclical process of assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring and review, including involving other organisations that offer support in specialist areas.
