About Us
At YWCA Canberra we know that developing women’s leadership is fundamental to advancing gender equality.
Our vision is ‘Women shaping our communities’ – we believe that women’s unique perspectives and experiences must be heard, and that our community will benefit from women’s contribution to leadership.
The She Leads Program is YWCA Canberra’s leadership pathway for women who are looking to explore and develop their leadership potential, and includes the She Leads Diploma of Leadership and Management, the She Leads Conference, the She Leads In-Conversation Series, the She Leads College Conference (for girls in Years 11 and 12), and She Leads Workshops.
Through the She Leads Program, we are equipping the next generation of women leaders, from all sectors and industries, with the skills they need to further their potential.
The She Leads Diploma of Leadership and Management
The She Leads Diploma is a nationally recognised qualification delivered through YWCA Canberra’s Registered Training Organisation. The She Leads Diploma of Leadership and Management was launched by former Sex Discrimination Minister, Elizabeth Broderick, and World YWCA Vice President, Susan Brennan, in 2013. The course offers a gendered analysis of leadership and management, and provides a customised curriculum addressing the specific needs of women in the early stages of their career.
She Leads Conference
Held annually in Canberra, the She Leads Conference provides both aspiring and established women leaders with the opportunity to develop the practical skills, knowledge and networks to accelerate their leadership journey.
The 2017 She Leads Conference will be held on Thursday 1 June at QT Canberra.
She Leads In-Conversation Series
The She Leads In-Conversation Series is the latest addition to the She Leads suite. These quarterly evening events will provide Canberrans with the opportunity to hear from women leaders in a conversational format, followed by a live Q&A session, and networking.
She Leads College Conference
The She Leads College Conference provides year 11 and 12 girls with a unique out-of-school opportunity to explore and hone their leadership identity and values, and reflect on their experiences, strengths, values, and goals for the future. Featuring inspiring presenters and interactive workshops, the College Conference provides a safe space for students to be inspired by young women leaders, and gain the confidence and practical skills to kick-start their leadership journeys.
The 2017 She Leads College Conference will be held on Tuesday 21 March at the University of Canberra.
She Leads Workshops
She Leads Workshops are designed to develop women’s skills and confidence to take on leadership roles within their community. Held monthly, these skills-based workshops are designed to address the under-representation of women in leadership roles, by building the capacity and confidence of women who strive to contribute to their communities through leadership.
