About Us

What is “The Food Shed”?

The Enmore Food Shed provides rescued, surplus food and groceries for an affordable price. The Food Shed is a ministry of the Enmore Church of the Nazarene and the majority food is sourced from Foodbank NSW & ACT.

Why use the Food Shed?

In NSW, millions of dollars-worth of food is thrown away each month, while 100,000 people go hungry, a quarter of them children. We can make simple changes that can save time, save money, help others and stop edible food going to landfill. Using Food Shed means that you’re not only stretching your budget but also helping the environment!

Can I participate?

Everyone is welcome! Participants shop at the Food Shed because they may be on a low income, unemployed, struggling to make ends meet, or simply want to do their part to help reduce food wastage and save the environment.

How does it work?

Due to limited stock, Food Shed operates under a first-come-first-served basis. Sign in when you first arrive to secure a place in the queue, and then enjoy a cuppa while you wait for your turn. Bring an Aldi or Woolworths sized bag along with you to fill.

Does it cost?

Yes. To fill a bag, it will cost $10. All money raised goes back into the Food Shed to replenish stocks and facilitate delivery of goods. Cash only- No EFTPOS available

Become a Food Shed Volunteer
We need volunteers to help with receiving deliveries and stocking the shelves on a Friday, as well as help with running the Food Shed on a Saturday morning. If you’d like to volunteer, contact David: (02) 9519 9294  [email protected]
