Kempsey Shire incorporating the Macleay Valley Coast has a unique and interesting history. Beginning with the first European settlement in the Macleay Valley in 1827 at the location now known as Euroka, to the establishment of Kempsey town by Enoch Rudder in 1836, through its amazing logging industry to the present day - where spectacular beaches and mountain ranges, envelop the valley, to present a unique area.
