About Us

Community Visitors Scheme

The Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) engages volunteers, over the age of 18, to visit residents living in aged care facilities, or people with a Home Care Package (HCP) living in their own homes, on a weekly basis.

The purpose is to reduce the loneliness that an individual might experience due to reduced contact with the outside community. Volunteers and clients can sit and chat, have a coffee, play a board game, go for a walk etc.

Friendship and companionship offered by the volunteer to an isolated person is an invaluable gift which can make such an important difference.

This program is funded by the Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA) and administered by Red Cross.

Opening Hours: Mon-Fri 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Eligibility: To be eligible for this program you must be a resident in an aged care facility within the ACT, or have a Home Care Package.
