Australian Human Rights Commission

Aims : The Australian Human Rights Commission performs and provides a numer of roles and services. It assists people with complaints about discrimination or breaches of human rights under federal laws with a view to resolving them. Its develops human rights education programs and resources for schools, workplaces and the community. It provides independent legal advice to assist courts in cases that involve human rights principles and provides advice and submissions to Australian parliaments and governments in relation to the development of laws, polities and programs. It also holds public inquiries into human rights issues of national importance and undertakes and coordinates research into human rights institutions to address major human rights issues in the region and takes part in bilateral international activities as part of the Australian Government's development program run by the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAid).
