Admission
We ask that on arrival you present to the counter in order to be marked in the computers as being here. We also need to check your personal details for any amendments, for example address, Medicare and Concession Cards have been entered. One of the most important details to always keep us up to date with is your mobile number.
Waiting Times
Unfortunately, unexpected situations can arise during the course of the day. Reception Staff will endeavor to keep you informed if this occurs and with an estimated waiting time. If you are in town and have things to do, please feel free to leave a contact number at the desk to give you the opportunity to utilize this time
Phone Calls
Doctors at this practice may be contacted during normal business hours. If the doctor is unavailable, you may speak to the nurse or a message can be taken. Your call will be returned at our earliest convenience. Please notify reception if the matter is urgent. The calls will be triaged by a nurse or by a doctor directly if immediate attention is needed.
BILLING POLICY
It is the policy of this practice to offer medical treatment to all who need it.
St George Medical Centre is a privately owned and operated clinic and whilst we offer bulk billing to those patients specified below, bulk billing remains the exception not the norm.
It is the policy of the St George Medical Centre to Bulk Bill the following.
- Anyone under the age of 5
- Pension card holders
- DVA gold card holders.
ALL other patients are to be privately billed at the surgery rate and will still receive the Medicare rebate where applicable. Please note health care card holder and over 65’s without pension cards are not excluded from private billing.
For this practice to stay financially viable in the light of overheads, the freezing of Medicare rebates since 2013 and current government decisions this policy needs to be followed to ensure the ability to provide this service to the community.
Should you be experiencing any difficulties please refer them to the practice manager.
AFTER HOURS
We encourage the patients of this practice to ring for after-hours advice and medical care. The phone number is the same as the daytime number 0746 255 344 and there is always a Doctor on call. *FEE*
CONFIDENTIALITY
Staff at the Medical Centre takes great care to protect the privacy of patients. This involves care when dealing with patients and care when handling clinical records. Privacy protection also involves not releasing information concerning appointment times or appointment details to anyone other than the patient, unless there has been a clear indication that the patient has given permission for such information to be released to a third party.
In doing this, it may at times appear that we are being “too careful”. However, erring on the side of caution in protecting our patients’ interests is preferable to breaching the privacy of our patients whose interests are paramount. Please refer any concerns regarding this policy to the Practice Manager, Mr Alex Benn.
