The objective of the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) is to provide timely and quality ambulance services which meet the needs of the Queensland community. QAS is an integral part of the primary health care sector in Queensland, providing patient transport services and emergency pre-hospital care to the Queensland community. QAS provides timely and quality ambulance services which meet the needs of the community by providing pre-hospital ambulance response services, emergency and routine pre-hospital patient care and transport services, co-ordination of aero medical services, inter-facility ambulance transport, planning and coordination of multi-casualty incidents and disasters, and casualty room services. QAS remains one of the highest performing ambulance services nationally, and the best performer of all the east coast ambulance services (ROGS 2012), due largely to the organisation's ability to change and respond to the shifting needs of the Queensland community.
