Harmony Club

The Harmony Club has two branches: Centre Day Based Respite and Social Support. These services aim to enrich the lives of seniors, and younger people with a disability, living in the community by providing friendship, networks and social contact and promotes each persons opportunity to maximize their capacity and quality of life. The Harmony Club provides companionship and social contact with other seniors who face the same difficulties. For many, the friendships built amongst fellow clients, staff and volunteers make a trip to the Harmony Club the highlight of the week.

The Harmony Club offers centre based day respite for seniors living in their own home who are of frail age or suffer from social isolation. Clients are picked up in a minibus if they reside in our local catchment area in the morning and brought to the centre for morning tea, activities—including bowls, scrabble and craft— followed by lunch, and are then dropped home in the afternoon.  Clients are also able to bring themselves to the centre or use other forms of community transport. Special bus trips are arranged once a month and venture out to such places as Beaudesert, the bay area, the Gold Coast hinterland and many more.

Social Support comes in many forms whether it be home visits to share a cuppa; going out with a small group for a bite to eat; to see a movie or on a bus trip. Social Support provides opportunity for those who are unable to access the community independently.

The Harmony Club is funded by Commonwealth Home Care Support Program (CHSP) and Queensland Community Care Services which provides basic community care services to eligible frail or older people and younger people with a disability.
