About Us

Cystic Fibrosis Queensland is the peak community not for profit charity working with and for people living with cystic fibrosis across Queensland, the Northern Territory and northern New South Wales. We advocate for the entire cystic fibrosis community and seek to raise much needed awareness of this debilitating condition. 90% of our income relies on fundraising.

Our mission is ‘Lives unaffected by Cystic Fibrosis’ and we assist everyone affected by cystic fibrosis to live fuller, healthier lives. We fund research, provide information and education, and deliver support and service programs to people living with cystic fibrosis.

There is no cure for cystic fibrosis. A child born today has a life expectancy of less than 40 years, many do not live past their twenties.

Cystic fibrosis is not covered by the national disability insurance scheme as it is a chronic illness and not considered a disability. Living with a chronic illness is emotionally, physically and financially draining for the sufferer and their support network.

Cystic Fibrosis Queensland provides practical support for people living with cystic fibrosis by subsidising life-saving airway clearance and nebuliser equipment as well as subsidies to support physical activity, medical, hospital car parking and in-hospital care packs.
