About Us

The Deaf Society aims to provide a comprehensive range of professional and social services to cater for the needs of Queensland's Deaf Community. The Society provides Community Welfare services, interpreting services, residential services, post school training centres and access to facilities for meetings, sport, theatre and social activities. The Society aims to both assist with the integration of deaf individuals into the community and to educate the hearing community to better understand the many problems associated with deafness. The service offers information workshops on deaf culture, sign language interpreting, translation and writing of documents and language development. Workshops for both deaf and hearing-impaired people on issues related to deafness and personal development are also available.
