Australian Law Online is provided by the Australian Government to give all Australians access, via a website and telephone hotline, to Government legal information and services available nationwide. The Family Law Hotline and Family Law Online website provide information for people dealing with the family law system on topics as diverse as counselling, adoption, family violence, divorce and relationships outside marriage. The hotline and the website will help people identify the best way to solve their family law problems. Importantly, they will provide information about alternatives to litigation that, in some cases, may prove to be cheaper and result in a more positive outcome for all parties. A Regional Law Hotline (1800 050 400) has also been established to service regional and rural Australia by providing family law information and general legal advice. These services will not provide specific legal advice. Callers to the hotline who need specific legal or other advice about their own cases will be directed to professionals in their local area who may be able to provide further assistance.
