About Us

The Brisbane Youth Detention Centre accommodates young people up to the age of 17 years who have been remanded or sentenced by the courts for a period of detention. The Centre provides a range of core education, vocational educational training as well as a range of developmental, recreational and cultural programs. In addition, the Centre provides a strong visitation culture for families and care-givers of young people, access to legal providers, cultural visitors and community elders. These programs and services are designed to encourage young people in custody to develop self-esteem and skills, which will help them when they return to the community.
