About Us

BCA has been established since 1975 "Assisting the aged, families, children & individual's who are suffering hardship & distress & improving the health & wellbeing of people in the region." BCA is a registered charity & the largest NFP community organization in the Burdekin Shire. BCA's main Services/ Programs include The Support Centre, Burdekin Centre for Rural Health, Burdekin Community Rehabilitation Centre, Community Information Centre, Home Care Service, Housing & Community Support Service & Volunteer Service.

OUR HOMECARE SERVICE

BCA’s Home Care Service has been providing quality Home Care Services in the Burdekin since 1978 to support frail, older people and younger people with a disability to remain living in their own home and maximise their independence.

Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP)

The Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) helps senior Australians access entry-level support services to live independently and safely at home.

BCA’s Home Care Service is an approved provider for a wide range of CHSP Support Services.

Home Care Packages

Home Care Packages are for seniors with greater or more complex care needs. If you need a high level of care and support services on an ongoing basis, you could be eligible for a Home Care Package.

BCA’s Home Care Service is an approved provider for level 1, 2, 3 and 4 Home Care Packages

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

BCA’s Home Care Service is an approved provider for a wide range of NDIS Support Services.

Queensland Community Support Scheme (QCSS)

The Queensland Community Support Scheme (QCSS) provides support to people who, with a small amount of assistance, can maintain or regain their independence, continue living safely in their homes, and actively participate in their communities.

You may be eligible for the QCSS if you are under 65 years old (or under 50 years old for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people) with:

  • a disability (and are not eligible for the National Disability Insurance Scheme)
  • chronic illness, mental health or other condition, or
  • circumstances that impact your ability to live independently in the community

Brokered Services

BCA offers Brokered Services to other organisation’s when possible such as Domestic Assistance, Social Support, Respite Care, Yard Maintenance and Transport.  BCA also provides these services to Non-funded consumers, who are not eligible for any government funded programs when we have the capacity.

Community Transport Service

BCA offers a Community Transport Service for eligible clients and their carers, both locally and to Townsville. A wheelchair accessible bus or other vehicle is available to pick you up from your home in Ayr, Brandon or Home Hill on weekdays, to attend appointments and shopping.  The bus service also travels to Townsville on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
