About Us

Centre Based Respite is funded by the Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services. It provides support to young people living with physical and intellectual disabilities, under 65 years of age and their carers. Clients must reside at home and need social interaction with other people of their age group.  Activities are diverse, and all needs accommodated.

We offer transport door to door from most suburbs in Cairns and the bus is equipped with a wheelchair hoist and accessible for people that require the use of a wheelchair. Clients should bring their morning tea and lunch according to their dietary needs. We celebrate some occasions during the year where a BBQ lunch is provided.

Eligibility:

Referrals are received from Community Access Point, but a personal request can be accepted and submitted on your behalf.

Hours:

The service for the younger group operates only Fridays 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Fees:

A user fee applies to help with the running of the centre and bus.
