About Us
Our Family Wellbeing Service is a free service that aims to improve the social, emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. Ensuring he safety and wellbeing of children in their homes, families and community reduces the risk of our children entering or re-entering the child protection system.
What our Family Wellbeing Service can do to support you and your family:
- Provide Triple P positive parenting training in groups or at home
- Advocate on behalf of family when required
- Provide life skills, advice and referral
- Build healthier family relationships
- Help with budgeting and managing money skills
- Establish safe and practical routines
- Help with meal preparation, planning, cooking and shopping skills
- Provide cultural support and cultural identification support
- Provide advice on child development, wellbeing and attachment
- Help access Early Educational Care for you children 0-6 years
CQID helps Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander families who want a say when their kids are connected to the Department of Child Safety. Our Family Participation Program team help by:
- Being independent from Child Safety and knowing your rights
- Empowering families during Child Protection decision making
- Identify family strengths and support systems
- Helping find kin connections
- Helping families understand Child Safety rules and processes
- Connecting families to CQID's Family Wellbeing team for a support plan
