About Us
Murri Ministry provides pastoral and spiritual assistance consistent with Aboriginal culture and tradition.
Murri Ministry was formed in 1993 to respond to the spiritual needs of the Aboriginal community, by establishing an Aboriginal Catholic Ministry within the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane.
The vision of Murri Ministry is expressed through the Gospel of Jesus, spirituality and culture, care and compassion, social justice, history, faith and action, effective teamwork and positive relationships with non-Indigenous people.
Our Murri Ministry also assists in:
- community liaison that includes home visitations and referrals to other agencies
- empowering local Indigenous communities
- sacramental preparation for baptisms, Eucharist and weddings
- preparation of funerals and memorial services
- furthering reconciliation among all Australians through workshops and community celebrations
- social justice and advocacy
- racism and cultural awareness raising
- supporting Indigenous youth by promoting leadership skills, cultural identity and enhancing self-esteem.

For more than 50 years, we’ve been providing support services to the people of South East Queensland. Whilst we are a Catholic agency, we provide these services to the entire community, regardless of religion, circumstance, ethnicity, economic situation, age, gender or ability. You will find Centacare services in every corner of South East Queensland. With a workforce of more than 3000, including our invaluable volunteers, and operating from more than 200 locations, we provide help and create hope for more than 150 000 people each year. With funding from both the Federal and Queensland governments, we are able to provide quality services to those in need of a range of services including childcare, support services for the aged and people with a disability as well as relationship education, counselling and support. We are grateful to our army of volunteers and donors who enable our non-government funded work in prisons, hospitals, psychiatric pastoral care and Indigenous communities.
