About Us

Home Assist Secure aims to remove some of the practical housing related difficulties experienced by older people and people with a disability who wish to remain living in their home. Home Assist Secure provides free information and advice about home maintenance, repairs, modifications and home security. Subsidised assistance with minor home maintenance, repairs, modifications and security which relate to health, safety and security may also be available for eligible clients. To be eligible for free information and advice, people must be 60 years and over or of any age with a disability, and own their own home or live in private rental housing. To be eligible for subsidised assistance, people must be in receipt of a Commonwealth Government pension or benefit and be unable to make use of alternative assistance such as family or friends or other Government programs eg. Home and Community Care (HACC) or services provided by the Department of Veteran's Affairs. An occupational therapist must be engaged and an assessment completed for determining need and location of medical aids. Eg. grab rails, ramps etc. Home assist can help in this area. People living in rental properties must have written permission from their landlord prior to the commencement of any work that permanently attaches to or removes from any part of the property belonging to the landlord.
