About Us

Halifax State School has a long and proud tradition of excellence in education. Over the last 126 years the school has seen many changes but as the world takes heed of the 21st century, so too does this little school. The same walls which were once witness to slate, ink wells and the dreaded supervisor inspections are now home to dynamic learning environments with devices and staff to support and encourage engagement. In the shadow of the old school building now sits modern facilities including a new tennis court/basketball court and fitness playground, while internally the building is almost unrecognisable. The computer lab and ipads allows students to access knowledge from far beyond the school gate and communicate around the world; the interactive whiteboards engage learners and generate excitement; and digital devices are integrated throughout learning experiences. All this is done with one purpose in mind – to enhance student learning outcomes.
