About Us
Direct Services, Target Group: Families/ Couples, Men and Women
All families are different, and we work with families facing difficulty and offer help when it is most needed. Our focus for families and children is to strengthen the family unit and build capacity in parents to keep their children safe and nurtured.
Whether you are worried about the safety of a child, want your children to return to your care from out-of-home care, UnitingCare Community can support this process, always keeping in mind the wellbeing of the child.
We do this through comfortable, in-home support to families with programs like Family and Child Connect which puts families in touch with the support they need as soon as problems arise, Family Support which provides counselling, mediation, parenting skills and household management strategies to families and Intensive Family Support Service (IFSS) which teaches families to nurture, protect and keep children safe and ultimately keep families together. A previous program for family support, Referral for Active Intervention (RAI), has now ceased and enquiries should be directed to IFSS.
Group programs are also available to families with programs like Parenting Made Easier which aim to generate confidence in parents and families.
Parenting is a continuous learning curve, and we acknowledge this by exploring new parenting styles, understanding the behaviour of children, learning about child development and ways to stimulate development, learning how to manage stress or depression and looking at family life from a holistic point of view.
