About Us

Our Homework Assist Program is now under way and going strong!

Every Tuesday between 3pm and 4.30pm, students in Years 1 to 6 are welcome at Beenleigh Library for help with their homework. Transport is available – please contact Further Hope to find out more.

We are very grateful to Logan City Council’s Beenleigh Library for collaborating with us on this project.

Program Tutor Lilian Tuitufu (pictured) coordinates the program in collaboration with Beenleigh Library and Beenleigh Library Homework Help and with the help of two Further Hope volunteers. The program is also generously supported by N&K Family Daycare Service.

About 12 children are enrolled so far and there’s plenty of room for more. To enrol, please complete this form and post it to Further Hope at 7/3972 Pacific Highway, Loganholme 4129 or scan/email to [email protected]

The Homework Assist program gives students the opportunity to connect with children from a range of cultural backgrounds and to participate in fun and supportive learning activities to help with homework.

Most students need help with English, maths and computers and their challenges are to do with English language rather than a lack of ability. Many of their parents can’t help them at home because they too are learning English. Students who come to the homework program regularly gain confidence, enjoy themselves and become more positive and active in their learning. They also get to meet other children.

Ten-year-old Delphine Umuhoza (pictured, second from the right) says this:
I always look forward to the homework group because it’s where I make new friends.”

At Further Hope we are looking forward to organising other enjoyable activities for children and their parents from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. Please check out the Community Support page on our website.
