We cater for students from Prep to Year 6 and pride ourselves on ‘knowing our students’, which gives us the ability to focus on the needs of the whole student .

Mackay Central State School boasts a rich multi-cultural student background and celebrating this feature is an important part of our school culture. Celebrating our high academic performances and model behaviour ensures that our parents and community are a welcome part of everyday school life.

In addition to our strong academic focus, we offer a range of programs. Our instrumental music program offers students the opportunity to learn an instrument and to participate in a range of performing groups and competitions. We offer a range of school sport opportunities for students to experience and compete at representational levels. Our musicians and performing artists have performed well in past Eisteddfods and competitions.

We have the support of an active Parents and Citizens’ Association who regularly meet and provide input into the direction of the school. Our P&C has been supportive of a range of resourcing initiatives and whole school activities and celebrations to enhance learning for our students.
