About Us
YPA services are funded by Department of Communities, Child Safety and Disability Services and Department of Housing and Public Works.
Services aim to provide support to young people in Mount Isa community experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless. disengaged from family, community, as well as those disengaged from school, training and education and those at risk of harm, including self harm. YPA also supports young people exiting from statutory care. The organisation is a diverse and multicultural, which employs over 20 staff, who accomplish amazing work with the youth of Mount Isa. Due to our demographic location, a high proportion of clients identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. Our programs are culturally appropriate, however are accessible to all.
YPA operates from a strengths based approach and believes young people are their own ‘experts of change’. We empower young people to make positive change and provide opportunities and promote individualism.
YPA also works in collaboration with other local organisations and government agencies to provide the best outcomes for all young people.
