About Us

f you or someone you know is homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, the Youth Housing and Reintegration Support (YHARS) service may be able to provide support. 

The Youth Housing and Reintegration Support can help you if you're:
  • Transitioning from the care of Child Safety Services
  • Transitioning into the community after a period of sentence or remand in a Youth Detention Centre
  • Sleeping rough or in unstable or temporary housing
The Youth Housing and Reintegration Support service will help you to:
  • Identify your barriers to stable accommodation
  • Source and transition into safe and affordable accommodation
  • Gain greater independence and stability
  • Reconnect with your family and/or community
  • Find education, training and employment opportunities
  • Connect with specialist support services

There are two components within the YHARS Program:

YHARS After Care Brokerage Service

The YHARS After Care Brokerage Service provides funds for young people aged 17-21 years who are transitioning or have transitioned from under a Child Protection order (or under the Unaccompanied Humanitarian Minors program) to a greater level of independence and stability.  These funds can be applied for via your case worker and must be supported by your current case plan.

After Care Brokerage funding is provided to young people residing in the three Department of Communities regions:

  • Brisbane
  • North Coast
  • South East
Who can access the YHARS After Care Brokerage Service?

Clients must be aged between 17-21years and be homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. Clients must be exiting or transitioning from child safety statutory interventions or be cared for under the Unaccompanied Humanitarian Minors (UHM) program.

YHARS Housing Support Service

The YHARS Housing Support Service provides individualised support to young people aged 12-21 years who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. The service aims to transition clients into safe and affordable accommodation to allow them to achieve greater independence and stability.

Who can access the YHARS Housing Support Service?

Clients must be aged between 12-21 years and be at risk of homelessness or are homeless within Inala or 30 surrounding suburbs.
