Friends of Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (BVRT) Inc

Friends of Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (BVRT) Inc is a grassroots community-based group of long-term passionate volunteers who provide Trail & accommodation information to the public. We also freely promote events organised along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail by other community groups, in addition to our own small-scale, all-inclusive & "out of the box" events (e.g. casually paced all-aged social walks with BYO picnic lunches, photography & star-gazing nights along the Trail). We are a not-for-profit non-government organisation.

We embrace the historical significance of the Trail & promote its heritage; reflecting upon its former function serving as the Brisbane Valley Railway Line.

We hold information stalls for the BVRT at markets & events, promoting both the Trail & the connecting Brassall Bikeway in Ipswich. Future activities that we are seeking to undertake include BVRT Mural paintings, community native garden plantings/bush tucker & primacy school talks/information presentations. 

We liaise with all levels of Govt; Federal, State & Local, with regards to the Trail, including progress & status of work along the Trail. We support members of the public by responding to any of their queries about the Trail & provide accommodation information/contacts. We also support & shadow long-distance hikers whom approach our organisation, to ensure they are stocked up on the basic necessities/require vehicular transport off-Trail. We work closely with the State Govt Trail Ranger to undertake Trail & gate inspections where requested, undertake restoration of the historical Brisbane Valley Railway Line distance markers along the Trail & litter pick-ups.

We aim to include & liaise with all FOUR main user groups of the Trail; including, but not limited to, Traditional Indigenous Custodians, Horse-Riders, Hikers & Cyclists. 

We encourage the public to contact us with regards to their request for Trail information from where the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail commences at Wulkuraka (Ipswich) as the Brassall Bikeway, to the current terminus of the Trail in Yarraman (Toowoomba). We are here to assist with any queries that we can to ensure your Brisbane Valley Rail Trail experience is smooth & meets your expectations. We also provide & forward customer feedback directly back to Dept of Transport & Main Roads (DTMR), who currently own & continue to manage a large section of the corridor.
