About Us

Beerwah and District Youth and Community Centre

Beerwah and District Youth and Community Centre (BADYACC) is a community based program geared to respond to the needs of young people within a string of communities located along the Sunshine Coast’s eastern railway corridor. The program is able to provide: counselling and intensive support services; accommodation referral; employment assistance; advocacy; mediation; developmental workshops and recreation.

The Coolum Community Centre currently offers the following programs:

Emergency Relief
We provide Emergency Relief to people who are experiencing short term, financial crisis.
Basic food supplies and referrals are available.
Monday  12.30pm-2.30pm
Wednesday  12.30pm-2.30pm
Friday   12.30pm-2.30pm

IFYS Program – Broadband for Seniors
A volunteer coordinator teaches seniors about using the computer, Internet safely, iPad, phone and email. Please phone the Centre for bookings.
IFYS Program – Young Parents Support Program
Young Parents Support Program holds a Playgroup every Monday 10.30am-2.30pm except School Holidays. This is a free service with food and activities supplied. YPSP provides information, support, advocacy and referral to young parents aged to 26 years. For further information please contact Nicole or Sheree on 5479 5898.

CORE Program
The CORE Program is proudly funded and supported by the Queensland Government through its Community Learning Program and operates out of the Coolum Community Centre three days per week.  With this funding IFYS is able to offer 60 eligible young people, between the ages of 15 and 24 in 2014, free access to quality training in Hospitality (Cert II and Cert III) and Retail (Cert II), and post-qualification support in securing employment or further educational pathways. Each participant is given the opportunity to gain work experience and is supported by a client centred learning approach which allows for rolling course entry and exit points. TAFE East Coast is the registered training organisation delivering the qualification training.  For all enquiries please call 0466 217 777.

Cool Connections – Women’s Group
A diverse women’s group for ladies who want to try different experiences, find friendships and support.  Workshops and guest speakers present every Friday 9.30am-11.30am during school terms.  For further information please call Esme 0408 077 882.

Venue Hire
The rooms of the Centre are hired out to various community members. The fees are $16.50 per hour, $55 half day (4 hours) and $110 full day (8 hours).  Please contact the Centre to discuss availability.
