University of the Third Age Inc - Sunshine Coast

U3A is an organisation operating in the Sunshine Coast that caters for the mutual assistance and support of people in the Third Age, i.e. in active retirement. The U3A promotes 'Learning for the Joy of Learning'. The U3A is not a university in the conventional sense. Membership does not require formal entry requirements nor is formal academic certification issued. Close association with the University of the Sunshine Coast permits members to use the University library, access to the art gallery and to attend selected University lectures. This U3A endows several university bursaries and has donated to various unversity undertakings. Classes are conducted by unpaid tutors drawn form the body of members, many of whom are retired professionals ans academics and are offered across the Sunshine Coast, from Caloundra to Coolum ans the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Some 130 classes are offered as 32 weekly classes of usually 2hrs covering a wide range of areas such as: Academic. Computing. Craft and Skills. Discussion Groups. Health and Fitness. Music.
