About Us

BreastScreen Queensland Nambour Service provides free breast cancer screening and follow up assessment services. Women aged 50 to 74 are strongly encouraged to have regular breast screens as the evidence of the benefits of regular breast screens are strongest in this age group. Women age 40 to 49 and over 75 can also have a free breast screen with a BreastScreen Queensland Service.

BreastScreen Queensland uses mammography (X-ray picture of the breast) because it is the most effective screening test to detect breast cancer. A breast screen can detect very small changes in the breast tissue well before a woman or her doctor can notice any symptoms.   For women aged 50 to 74 a breast screen is the most effective way to detect breast cancer in its early stages.

Appointments at BreastScreen Queensland take approximately thirty minutes and are performed by a female radiographer. All screening appointments and follow up tests, if required, are free.  Early and late appointments are available.

BreastScreen Queensland Nambour Service is located at Block 4 Nambour General Hospital, Hospital Road Nambour.
