About Us

"Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities in Queensland are supported to live free from family and domestic violence and sexual assault."

It is a sad fact that every day in our community somebody is the victim of family or domestic violence or abuse which can take many forms. QIFVLS is committed to assisting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who are victims of family violence and/or sexual assault. We do this by delivering culturally appropriate and free legal and support services and community legal education.

Legal Advice and Representation

QIFVLS provides a range of legal services, including advice and representation in the areas of Family and Domestic Violence, Child Protection, Family law, Victim Support and Victim Assist, Sexual Assault and minor Civil Law matters.

Support Services

QIFVLS supports clients well beyond their legal needs through its service by having Client Support Officers provide practical and welfare support, court support and advocacy.

Workshops

QIFVLS also provides clients and the broader community with educational workshops and information sessions.

We have 5 service delivery offices located in Cairns, Townsville, Mount Isa, Rockhampton and Brisbane with our Head Office located in Cairns. Our staff regularly travel to rural, remote and regional  communities across Queensland providing legal and support services.
