Crisis & Emergency Accommodation
Australian Red Cross has multiple programs including:
Targeted Family Support program, provides intensive support and case management for families with children 0-18 with a strong focus on supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and their children.
Homestay supports families and individuals at risk of homelessness to maintain independent housing or gain access to long term sustainable housing, so they can have stability needed to experience wellbeing, dignity and security.
The Street to Home Program supports people who are sleeping rough or experiencing chronic homelessness in the Townsville area, to move into stable long term housing. The program focuses on helping clients to make long term life-style changes so they can successfully participate in community life, education and employment where appropriate
The Red Cross Homelessness Service Hub supports vulnerable people who are experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness in Townsville. The Homelessness Services Hub provides planned, time-limited and solution focussed support to individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. We work collaboratively with specialist and mainstream services in the Townsville area to make a significant and meaningful impact on ending homelessness together.
Townsville Wellbeing Centre is an accommodation centre located on Townsville General Hospital grounds for people accessing medical treatment in Townsville that live or reside in other areas. The centre provides activities and information support and referral for guests and their families and is staffed mostly by caring and committed volunteers.
Australian Red Cross Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Regional Engagement Program’s main aim is to promote and implement various outcomes from the Australian Red Cross Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Strategy 2009-2015. Through providing advice and guidance to support North Queensland Red Cross’ cultural proficiency across its workforce, policy, program and service activities, we hope to increase building stronger relationships with our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families in the North Queensland region.
