Act for Kids - Townsville

ACT for Kids is a non-government not-for-profit organisation proving free professional support services to help families experience stress or problems.
Through education, assessment and specialised therapeutic intervention, we offer parents the support they need to raise happy, healthy and enjoy positive family relationships.

We work to:

• Keep kids safe by providing information & support & counselling to help parents care for their children
• Help families develop new ways to cope in times of stress
• Support & counsel children who have experienced trauma through abuse or neglect
• Improve developmental outcomes for children
• Implement the Intensive Family Support Program – Outreach to Ayr, Charters Towers and Ingham.

The ACT for Kids team includes psychologists, social workers, teacher, nurse, occupational therapist and speech language pathologist. They are specialist in trauma and work with children and their carers/family to help them develop and achieve their own goals for their future and wellbeing.

• Learning protective behaviours
• Parenting support and strategies
• Dealing with grief and loss
• Family relationships
• Address traumatic experiences

Our friendly team is able to help all kinds of families from all kinds of backgrounds, with many different needs. All of our services are provided for free to children and families.
