General Welfare & Support Services
About Us
St John Qld Telephone Services provides vital friendship and security calls, assisting people to remain at home safely (particularly the mature aged, people with ongoing medical conditions and people with a disability and their carers).
- Security calls: A phone call at a regular time to check the client is safe and well. Available Monday-Friday, excluding public holidays.
- Friendship calls: A cheerful weekly chat between the client and a volunteer to help the client stay connected in their community.
- Respite calls: Can be made after the client returns home from hospital, or while family and friends are away.
This is a low-level support system; this program is not a counselling service.
During the COVID-19 crisis, St John Qld is also offering free Community Calls to people aged over 65 who are choosing to self-isolate.
