About Us
Occupational Therapists are health professionals trained to assist people in overcoming limitations as a result of injury or illness, psychological or emotional difficulties, developmental delay or the effects of aging. The goal of the Occupational Therapist is to assist each individual to move from dependence to independence, maximising personal productivity, well-being and quality of life. Cairns Occupational Therapy staff strive to assist clients to maximize their functional performance in activities of daily living, work and leisure tasks. Assistance in overcoming the barriers that limit their ability to do the activities that are part of their daily life can also be provided. Our aim is to minimise the impact of injury or disease on a person’s ability to care for themselves, significant others and their environment. Who can Occupational Therapy help? Cairns Occupational Therapy frequently works in conjunction with funding bodies such as WorkCover Qld., Third Party Insurers, Self Insured Workplaces, Comcare and Department of Veterans Affairs. Additionally, private patients who wish to receive the specialised services that are offered on a fee for service basis are also treated. Clients with private health insurance can often claim a rebate from their health fund for their treatment.
