Port Lincoln is situated on Boston Bay, one of the largest protected natural harbours in the world and three times the size of Sydney Harbour and is part of the Eyre Peninsula. The Eyre Peninsula is the traditional home to the Barngarla (Port Lincoln area), Nauo on the Southern Side, and Wirangu peoples further up the far west coast. Matthew Flinders came to the area in 1802 and named it Port Lincoln, it was settled by white man in 1839. Port Lincoln today is a vibrant regional centre and the perfect base from which to explore the Southern Eyre Peninsula.
