About Us

Victorian Law Foundation helps Victorians understand the law and their legal system. We are a not-for-profit, independent, statutory body from the Legal Services Board Public Purpose Fund. Our work revolves around the key programs; education, publishing and grants. These programs are underpinned by a commitment to making legal information easy for all Victorians to find, understand & use. We believe plain language, with its emphasis on meeting audience needs, is an important tool in improving the quality of legal information and services for Victorians. GRANTS: We award $500.000 In grants each year for legal projects that benefit Victorians. We fund large and small projects. Grants are awarded year-round through our small grants program, & in two general grants rounds in March & September. PUBLICATIONS: We produce a free publications about common legal problems. We also provide information to help you better understand how laws are made & the organisations involved with the legal system. EDUCATION: We provide ways for Victorians to connect & engage with the law throght our education programs. These include events & resources for Secondary school teachers & students that are linked closely with the Victorian VCE & VELS curriculum. We also coordinate Law Week in May each year. It involves hundreds of community & legal organisations across Victoria, and offers something for every Victorian.
