About Us

The Australian Institute of Welfare and Community Workers Inc (AIWCW) is the recognised professional body for welfare and community workers in Australia and was founded in 1969. As a not-for-profit organization it represents at National and State levels the interest of welfare and community workers in all paid and un-paid areas of the profession. The AIWCW approves university/college campuses and appropriate qualifications which meet the needs of the welfare and community worker profession. Graduates are then eligible for membership of Community Service Professionals and for overseas students to be assesed as welfare workers for migration purposes. The AIWCW is authorised to asses the qualifications of welfare workers for the purpose of determining the suitability of skills prior to application to Dept. of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) for permanent residency visa. The Centre for Welfare and Community Education (CWCE) the education arm of the (AIWCW) is a registered Training Organisation and can deliver nationally recognised training in Queensland.
