About Us
Vicdeaf (The Victorian Deaf Society) is a not-for-profit organisation. Vicdeaf is a specialist service provider for adults who are Deaf or hard of hearing. It aims to assist people to access services in the community, minimise the impact of deafness, provide information and services to the public, other organisations, the Deaf community and people who are hard of hearing. Statewide Services Include:- Client services; Metro/Regional Case Management:- Case managers provide case management services, advocacy, referral and support with issue that impact on the lives of people who are deaf/hard of hearing. They can assist in a variety of matters such as legal or court matters, Centrelink issues, financial issues, family/personal issues and other issues as requested. Our regional services involve pert time case management . Our regional Case Managers are able to give you information about other Vicdeaf services and programs. Independent Living Skills - Client Support Workers set up individualised programs to support clients who are deaf with disabilities, to become more independent and to extend their current living skills. Clients must be Deaf and have additional disabilities including physical, sensory, intellectual, learning and mental health difficulties. The ILS team can provide support in areas such as training, mobile phone programs, budgeting, cooking/nutrition and computer skills development. Training & Awareness:- Vicdeaf is a leader in providing training to increase your confidence when interacting with people who are Deaf or hard of hearing. Our program includes: * Deaf Awareness Training for community Organisations * Deaf Awareness and Auslan Training in the workplace that have Deaf employees * Sign Language (Auslan) Courses * National Relay Service Training * Hearing Awareness Training Employment Services:- SensWide Employment is a division of the Victorian Deaf Society. It is a Melbourne based Disability Service provider committed to delivering employment solutions for job seekers who are Deaf, hard of hearing, blind, low vision or deaf blind. SensWide also provides job seeking and support services to people who have other disabilities, disadvantages, illness or barriers to employment.
