Epping Sexual Offences And Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT)

The Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Unit provide: ? 24-hour response and investigation into reports of all sexual assaults and physical assault of children. ? a response to serious cases of neglect and abandonment, in conjunction with the Department of Human Services. ? In response to reports of recent sexual assault of adults and children, Unit members will advise victims of options and assist them through the criminal investigation if they choose that option. ? Victims with access and information to support services, and referrals will be made if necessary. A protocol with Northern Centre Against Sexual Assault (NCASA Phone: 9496 2240 - see separate entry) exists whereby formal statements to police will only occur after medical treatment and other support is provided. ? a response to reports of non-recent sexual and physical assaults of children and adults, where the victim desires a criminal investigation.
